EPA SCHOLARSHIP FUND

EPA is committed to providing children in need with the opportunity to experience the enormous benefits and enjoyment of participation in sport. We believe structured sports help children gain self-confidence and self-esteem, develop social skills, learn sportsmanship and teamwork, set and achieve goals, and learn from positive role models. We believe that all children, regardless of their family's financial situation, should be given this opportunity to learn and grow through sports.

All applicants must be at least 5 years of age but no older than 16 years of age to be eligible for scholarship.

GRANTS/SCHOLARSHIPS

Monies raised through the EPA Scholarship Fund are used to provide partial and full scholarships to EPA Sports Camps and after school sports programme's offered in Bangkok (e.g. competitive team, learn to swim and water safety instructional classes, EPA FC football training, youth leagues).

SCHOLARSHIPS RECIPIENTS

EPA identifies deserving scholarship recipients in two ways:

  1. EPA will work with local community-based organisations to select students within their programs to attend 1-2 weeks of holiday camps or year-round club training.
  2. EPA accepts individual applications from families for camp and program scholarships throughout the year.

Awards are based on financial and emotional needs. Each applicant must complete an application but we try to make the process as straightforward as possible. EPA reviews each application and makes all final grant decisions.

FUNDRAISING

All funding for the EPA Scholarship Fund is made through voluntary contributions and our special fund-raising events and activities.

2021 GOALS

We want our applicants to really benefit from attending our programs. We want our community to grow and enable hundreds of families to find affordable sports program for their children. The goal of EPA is to grant over 100 scholarships annually to deserving kids.

EVENTS

Annually in June, approximately 150 guests will join us for the EPA Benefit Dinner to support the EPA Scholarship Fund. Each year, we will celebrate an individual for their commitment and loyalty to the development of youth sport education in SE Asia.

Program Highlights
EPA AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The EPA Scholarship Fund provides an opportunity for children to become actively involved in sport on an on-going basis throughout the year. Scholarship recipients take weekly classes in football, swimming and learning English through sport classes. These classes allow under-resourced children to immerse themselves in a specific sport and learn valuable life lessons including teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication, commitment and hard work.

EPA HOLIDAY CAMP PROGRAMME

The EPA Camp programs have the double benefit of providing children in need with a safe, fun and instructive environment during the school holidays, while at the same time opening up a world of opportunities through participation in organised sports. Many of the children served by EPA will have parents that work full-time, creating a child-care issue during the school holidays. EPA Holiday Sports Camp will provide a full-day program from 9:00am — 4:00pm, which will include meals and snacks.

EPA FC PROGRAMME

EPA Scholarship Fund provides funding for promising footballers that do not have the means to pursue competitive sport. EPA believes strongly in allowing children to reach their full potential and provides financial aid to those children in need. The team program is a year-round competitive program.

APPLICATION

The EPA Scholarship Fund (EPASF) evaluates applications four times per year in March, June, September and December, and operates on a Rolling Admissions basis.

Only the FIRST 80-100 completed applications are reviewed during each application window. Once this number of applications has been received, additional applications will be placed on a waiting list. Applications must be emailed to info@epa-academy.com or complete our online form.

Families interested in applying for a scholarship grant to any program must complete the EPA Scholarship Fund application. It is important that the directions outlined on the application are followed carefully and that all sections are filled out completely. Incomplete applications will not be accepted and the following documents must be provided and can be completed in either English or Thai:

  1. Completed copy of the EPA Scholarship Fund written application page. All applicants must provide an email address. Please print your email CLEARLY. We will not be responsible for misspelled information.

If for any reason you or your representatives are unable to complete the application form you can ask for a telephone interview and a member of the EPA team will conduct an interview in either Thai or English depending on your preference.

The EPA Scholarship Fund will review and make final decisions on all applications.

The Scholarship Fund is a private organisation that reserves the right to rescind any decision made and to revoke any scholarship offered.

Scholarship recipients must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and must meet and exceed the behavioural and attendance standards established by the coach of his/her program in order to maintain his/her scholarship.

Scholarships are awarded based on a number of criteria, including but not limited to: available grant money, financial need, thoroughness of application, applicant's demonstrated commitment to the program and behaviour in school or at previous EPA programs. Absences are also taken into consideration and we strongly advise that parents notify staff members of absences in advance.

*Once maximum number of completed applications is reached, additional applications will be placed on a waiting list. All applicants will receive a reply and a formal decision, if you do not get offered a place you can reapply in a future application window.
